Discipleship | Lesson 3 | Devotion 4
Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Over the past three days, you’ve heard some valuable principles about Jesus Christ. You’ve heard how He died for your sins, how He lives for you now, and how He we can become more like Him. You have got to be asking yourself, “Why would I want to do all of that?” If your ticket to Heaven has already been punched, why sacrifice more time and effort?
If you were dying from cancer and someone offered you the cure for free to anyone willing to receive it, would you keep it to yourself or would you go hospital to hospital saving the lives of others? With joy, you would share with others the healing that you had found in this cure! You have been given a cure to eternity, a cure that causes us to miss a place called Hell, a cure that gains us a new life in Christ and so much more.
Jesus Christ left His disciples with one command. It has become known as the Great Commission. You will hear it referred to many times during this course. It is God’s plan to ensure that the world receives the Gospel. It is found in the passage we just read. The fact is that many people will be in Heaven who have never read another Bible verse, have never reached anyone else, and have never gone another Sunday to church. You have the choice to be that type of Christian. The desire of Christ and this church is to be a group of Christians who are constantly seeking to obey Christ by sharing the good news of the Gospel with anyone. Begin now by asking God who He would have you to share the Gospel with.
