Discipleship | Lesson 4 | Devotion 3

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Have you ever bought something that was guaranteed for life? We are often skeptical of these types of advertisements. Most companies bank on the fact that you will lose the product, forget about the warranty, or transfer ownership to someone else which nullifies most warranties. Anything that lasts a lifetime is hard to be trusted.

Did you know that you were given something with a lifetime warranty? Someone else paid for the purchase and sealed the guarantee for you. Your salvation is guaranteed for life. Paul poses a question in verse thirty-five of the passage you just read, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” He gives a lengthy list of all sorts of occurrences that could cause us to feel separated from the love of Christ. In verse thirty-nine we see that none of these things “shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What a wonderful guarantee we have from God the Father. The truth is, there will be days in your life that you don’t feel loved by God or others. There will be days where you may even feel undeserving of His love. In those moments, know that no matter what you are loved by God and that your salvation from Hell is settled forever in Heaven.
